I am Alien, I am in my late twenties, and I am born and raised in Belgium,

Yes, my name has caused confusions not only in English-speaking countries but even in my own home country.

I’ve received mail from the bank for Mr. Alien until I was 18 years old and had to pass by the bank before they finally fixed their error.

Multiple times I have arrived at destinations where they were utterly surprised to see a young female instead of an old male.

In all the English-speaking countries I believe they thought I couldn’t spell my own name which caused funny and cheerful events.

Despite the fact that my name has caused sufficient tumult, it’s an appropriate name for me, I also love to show my ID and see peoples reaction to my name. Way better than spelling the damn thing for like a 1,000 times … and it makes their day!

I started to travel independently when I was 16 years old, but what really has changed my prearranged life was the year 2011.

In 2011, I went on my first backpack trip. I had ups and downs, nevertheless I fell in love with the adventurous lifestyle…..the unknown of tomorrow,

I came home and 2 weeks later a friend I made during my travels already came to visit, unfortunately one week later I had another visitor, much more unexpected and definitely unwanted.

The unexpected visitor was a flesh-eating bacterium. (non-related to my travels in Asia, this bacterium is becoming more frequent all over the world.)

After my full recovery I decided to roll out my own path (one where nobody would ever tell me what to do) and to live my dreams right here and now instead of postponing them any longer, I thought “since I still have my leg, I might as well go and use it”.

To share my experiences and comments I made this website.

I will try to update as much information as possible about all my previous experiences and current happenings.
